Slow progress

I have found a coin - no lira in the house but a suitable face found on an old brazillian coin so i have tried a new method of bezeling with brick stitch and then peyote. I can tell i was tired when doing it as not very even but hoping to finish today as the weather is shocking.

August BJP is on my Blog!

Hi everyone!


I just posted my August piece (detail above) here.

I've been missing on the BJP blog scene and feel very badly about it. The reasons are partly personal issues in my life right now and a ton of other obligations, projects, house guests, travel, etc. that have kept me waaaay too busy. There's more of all that on the horizon, but for the next three days, I hope plan to get caught up reading your blogs and seeing all the creative work being done in the BJP!!! And later this week, I want to will write another post about one way to finish BJP pieces that can give them a place in the fine art world.

Reminder... Once you have completed 8 BJP pieces for the year, you are eligible to put them on our BJP website on your own personal page!!! (Here's how your personal page will look... mine from the first year.) There are directions for how to send in your pictures on the website, here. (These are actually directions for last year's BJP, but they are the same for this year.) I look forward to seeing some of your pages and pictures soon. It's so neat to see them all together in a group, don't you think?

Please forgive my recent absence from active blogging... I'm sooooooooo excited to have a day to catch up and see your work!

After months of indecision finally beading has commenced.

january is half done

I have half completed my january piece which has become much more simple than first planned. I will post a picture on my blog this week but you can see that I have been busy with other things in the last fortnight.
Also completed a bead dream catcher for the Art Society show.

March - it's a blustery day in Detroit, but I'm warm and toasty in my bead zone - the beaded knob for March is complete! Feel free to check it out.

Exciting week

I haven't got very far with the beading but the power of the BJP community is great. I have just had Susan Rochlin (mermaids jewels) to stay. She found me via the BJP and we had two nights talking beading. It was great.
My theme is sorted - friends inspiring music and the first month background is done. Need to bead this weekend now.

Nice to Meet all of You!

My name is Liz and this will be my third year participating in the Bead Journal Project. I still need to finish several months from last year as I just haven't been motivated to move my beaders booty to do it.

This year, I plan on small, workable pieces. Knobs. Yup, knobs. Beaded knobs (take any reference you want and run with it) for drawers and handles and ... you name it.


I have bead drawers (above) in my bead zone that need to have more than just the wood or metal knobs they came with. As a beader, I shouldn't leave any possible beaded surface unbeaded, eh?

Looking forward to this journey....

2010 January BJP done!!!!

I was already signed up for BJP when I was able to take the wonderful class on bead embroidery in November from Robin Atkins... I came home so excited that I plunged ahead with my project. Since I have this one done I will be doing two pieces in January and will have one extra for a month that I run out of time. I chose 3 1/2 by 5 inches and it didn't take all that long with #11 beads. But Robin has me totally hooked on #15 beads and that takes a whole lot longer... If you wish you can see it at my blog.... http://olderrose.blogspot.com

Something to share

When I tried to register for this blog it kept telling me too many members but now I find I'm in.....magic!!!

I'm also excited and have picked my theme and size 3 1/2 X 5... I've just about finished the first one and started on the second.. I'd like to be ahead as I know when spring comes and lambing etc. starts I'll get behind...

Just HAD to post and share something. I just love these DC tins to store mixes in and they are the very best little portable bead trays also. You can get them with or without a liner or line them yourself....They come in a pack of 24 and I thought I'd never use that many but almost have them all in use...... source: http://www.sks-science.com/metal-tins-cans-p-2003.html This site has lots of cool storage items...
