Making a Change for Art!

Hi all,
I"ve just made a significant change in my life and have posted about it here on my blog - although I'm not working with beads but mainly creating sculptural forms with fabric as my main focus, I will be making lots more art and writing about my journey! (I'm SURE beads will find their way into my creations!!

August BJP is on my Blog!

Hi everyone!


I just posted my August piece (detail above) here.

I've been missing on the BJP blog scene and feel very badly about it. The reasons are partly personal issues in my life right now and a ton of other obligations, projects, house guests, travel, etc. that have kept me waaaay too busy. There's more of all that on the horizon, but for the next three days, I hope plan to get caught up reading your blogs and seeing all the creative work being done in the BJP!!! And later this week, I want to will write another post about one way to finish BJP pieces that can give them a place in the fine art world.

Reminder... Once you have completed 8 BJP pieces for the year, you are eligible to put them on our BJP website on your own personal page!!! (Here's how your personal page will look... mine from the first year.) There are directions for how to send in your pictures on the website, here. (These are actually directions for last year's BJP, but they are the same for this year.) I look forward to seeing some of your pages and pictures soon. It's so neat to see them all together in a group, don't you think?

Please forgive my recent absence from active blogging... I'm sooooooooo excited to have a day to catch up and see your work!

Sorry for the delay at putting our pictures on The Bead Journal. I have been busy doing other projects and just not putting anything on our blog. This is three french hens done by Evelyn. She chose her hens to be in the fashion field in Paris. Hope you enjoy it.

I've gotten a start on the other months with sketches and designs, but I've been so busy prepping for jewelry shows that I haven't been able to realize them. BJP July 2010

Yesterday I made a large piece of needlefelt.

For me it is always a surprise what it looks when I think I am ready.
I don't have a special plan, just start and see where it ends.
I do it just the same as I draw a free hand mandala.
In this part I saw a sunburst.
Influence from the heatwave which is in Europe?
The size is a CD.

"Carolyn Has Cabin Fever" My friend Carolyn has had this remarkable green carpet for about 3o years. It has helped her through many a long, dark winter in Alaska.

My bead journal project uses hand tracings from people who have helped me throughout my life. This is "The Neighbor." Bone, stone, crystal, and seed beads on wool felt and velvet. 8 1/2 x 11 inches.

I just finished my piece called " Time for Blooms"...

Yours truly's been struggling to get my April and  May entries here on this blog and on my own blog May follows April.........

Life's been very busy, I thought retirement meant you had lots & lots of free time, doesn't seem to be happening here, at least not right now, probably because spring/summer is upon us.  Our life is full & fun, so that is all that really counts, besides we love sharing it with our good friends, you know who you are.

Presently am busy on the weekend's selling my art goodies at our local Farmer's Market!!

Everyone have a safe "summer"....which will arrive I believe on June 21st.
