Inspiration

A friend sent me Karens Whimsy website today, and on it I found this tribute Karen made to her mother, who died of Alzheimer's. Karen noticed that her mom arranged little artistic arrangements of seeds, flowers and stems in the garden. Karen photographed them and made a video that you can read about here and see here. You may need Firefox instead of Internet Explorer to view the video. This is so moving, and offers a touching and thought-provoking reflection on the meaning of art.

Vicki, thank you for this link. I haven't watched the video yet - I had to wait to clear my eyes of tears. My mom, who lives with us, is suffering from Alzheimer's. In the last few months she, too, has been organizing things in lines and rows. She does this with her pills - I put them out on her place mat with her meal, and she spends quite a bit of time lining them up before she takes them. Karen's tribute to her mom is absolutely wonderful!

Thank you Vicki for sharing this link. I watched the video and was very moved. It is simply a beautiful tribute. It says so much more than words could. My heart goes out to Karen for her loss, and thank her for sharing this tribute.
